This form should be completed if you would like to request an exemption from a specific By-law. By-law exemption requests shall be submitted at least 30 days prior to the Council meeting at which the request is to be addressed.
Disclaimer: notwithstanding anything contained in a specific By-Law, any person may make an application to Council to be granted an exemption from any of the provisions of a By-Law, and Council may refuse to grant any exemption or may grant the exemption which may contain such terms and conditions as Council sees fit.
Noise: list the date and time (duration) of your event, the number of expected guests, the type of sound to be emitted (loud speakers), if any road closures will be required, the reason why the exemption should be granted and a statement of steps (if any) planned to bring about compliance with the By-law and/or mitigate the noise or vibration.
Fence/Sign/Zoning: provisions you seek relief from and all other relevant information (i.e., size, dimensions, locations, setbacks, etc.)
Other: state the By-law name and number (if known), and include all relevant information. If human habitation in an RV, state the duration (timeline) to which you are requesting this exemption. Include any personal information relating to your request.

Next Steps: The Clerk’s Department will be in contact with you to clarify information and/or coordinate payment – the fee is $75.00. The Clerk will inform you which Council meeting at which this request will be addressed. Neighbouring properties within 120m will be notified and provided with options to communicate their feedback. The Clerk will provide you with the agenda stating the appointment time prior to the meeting. You can choose to participate virtually, in-person, or have the Clerk delegate on your behalf. The Clerk will communicate the decision of Council if you choose not to be present at the meeting.
